2025 Gibson Custom Shop 1963 SG Special Reissue VOS Cherry Red [USED]

The Gibson Custom Shop 1963 SG Special Reissue recreates one of the most distinctive and characterful solid-body guitars of the early 1960s. Built by Gibson Custom with close attention to historical construction, materials and hardware, it combines the unmistakable SG design with the direct, expressive voice of two P-90 pickups.

The lightweight solid mahogany body, deeply sculpted double cutaways and slim 1960s-style neck provide excellent upper-fret access and a fast, comfortable playing feel. A one-piece mahogany neck is joined to the body using a long tenon and hide-glue construction, while the Indian rosewood fingerboard features a traditional 12-inch radius, pearloid dot inlays and 22 Authentic Medium-Jumbo frets.

The classic Cherry Red VOS nitrocellulose finish gives the guitar an authentically aged appearance, with the subtle patina associated with a carefully preserved vintage instrument. The simple three-ply pickguard, white-button Kluson tuners and compensated Lightning Bar wraparound bridge complete the historically inspired look.

Two Gibson Custom Soapbar P-90 pickups deliver the raw, dynamic and highly responsive sound for which the SG Special is known. They offer plenty of midrange presence, clarity and bite, while remaining sensitive to picking dynamics and changes in the guitar’s volume controls. The traditional hand-wired electronics use CTS potentiometers and Switchcraft components.

This 2025 example is gently used and remains in very good overall condition, showing only delicate signs of careful use. It comes with the complete original factory package, including the original Gibson Custom Shop hardshell case, Certificate of Authenticity and factory accessories.
