The Matchless Independence 35 is one of the most unique amplifiers ever created by Matchless and remains a rare sight on the used market. Built in California and hand-wired to the standards that made Matchless one of the most respected boutique amplifier manufacturers in the world, the Independence was the company’s first-ever three-channel design and one of its most versatile creations.

Founded in 1989, Matchless established its reputation by building exceptionally reliable, hand-crafted amplifiers with outstanding dynamic response, rich harmonic content and uncompromising construction quality. Models such as the DC-30, Chieftain and Clubman have become modern classics, used by professional musicians around the globe.

The Independence 35 expands on the traditional Matchless formula by offering three completely different channels within a single amplifier. Powered by a pair of EL34 power tubes and delivering 35 watts of cathode-biased Class A-inspired tone, it covers everything from sparkling cleans and edge-of-breakup sounds to thick British crunch and saturated lead tones. Unlike many modern multi-channel amplifiers, the Independence retains the touch sensitivity, responsiveness and dimensional character that Matchless is famous for.

This is the desirable MKI version without effects loop, preferred by many players looking for the purest and shortest signal path. The amplifier features the iconic illuminated Matchless front panel, with channel switching indicated by different backlit colors.

This particular amplifier was built in 2008 and remains in very good condition. It has been fully checked, tested and is ready for professional use in the studio, rehearsal room or on stage.

Included in the sale is the original footswitch for channel switching.
