This exceptional Fender Custom Shop 62/63 Stratocaster Journeyman Relic is a 2020 Mid-Year Limited Edition model built to the specifications of the early 1960s. Finished in the timeless Dakota Red, the guitar captures the authentic aesthetic of the era. The Journeyman Relic treatment provides subtle, tasteful aging with light wear patterns and naturally faded lacquer, giving the instrument a genuine vintage character without excessive relicing.

The alder body delivers the classic resonance and tonal balance associated with the best early-’60s Stratocasters. The aesthetic is complemented by a mint green relic’d pickguard and intentionally aged covers and knobs, characteristic of this limited edition run.

The maple neck, finished in Medium Tint Nitro, features a comfortable 60s Strat Style “C” profile. The AAA round-lam rosewood fingerboard with a 7.25″–9.5″ compound radius provides a beautiful blend of vintage feel and modern playability. Wide Tall (47095) frets and the Heavy Relic treatment on the back of the neck contribute to a naturally broken-in feel.

The guitar is equipped with a set of Hand-Wound 60s Strat pickups, with the middle pickup in RWRP configuration for hum-cancelling positions. The Strat Mod Wiring with Blender expands tonal versatility beyond the traditional 5-way layout, offering additional pickup combinations and dynamic control.

This instrument is ideal for players seeking a high-end Stratocaster that blends authentic early-’60s character with Custom Shop precision and modern comfort.
