The Beginning

SAITO Guitars was founded by Masaaki Saito in Japan. The company began as a repair workshop in Tokyo in 1991 and, through years of hands-on experience with guitars, basses, electronics, setups, and professional instruments, evolved into a full guitar manufacturer.

In 2011, SAITO started producing its own hand-wound pickups under the SAYTONE name. A few years later, the company launched its own guitar brand, first with the M-Series full acoustic models, followed by the solid-body S-Series.

From the beginning, SAITO focused on combining craftsmanship with modern production methods such as CAD design and CNC machining. The result is a very consistent, precise, and player-friendly instrument — still full of character, but built with the reliability expected from modern Japanese manufacturing.

Models and Craftsmanship

The SAITO lineup includes modern electric guitars such as the S-Series, including models like the S-622 and S-622CS, as well as more recent BEYOND models.

SAITO instruments are known for their comfortable necks, excellent fretwork, balanced body shapes, and very clean construction. Many models feature a 25.5” scale, Jescar frets, compound radius fingerboards, GOTOH hardware, Luminlay side dots, and SAITO’s own SAYTONE pickups.

The S-622 is one of the key models in the SAITO range. With its modern archtop body shape, ergonomic feel, and versatile pickup configurations, it offers a fresh take on the classic double-cut electric guitar idea.

The S-622CS brings a more classic visual approach, while keeping the modern SAITO DNA: stable hardware, comfortable playability, thoughtful electronics, and the same clean Japanese build quality.

The newer 622 BEYOND series pushes the concept even further, blending modern construction with a more sophisticated, resonant voice. These guitars feel familiar, but they have their own identity — refined, musical, and extremely usable.

SAYTONE Pickups

One of the most important parts of the SAITO sound is the company’s own pickup line: SAYTONE.

Developed in-house, SAYTONE pickups are designed to match the instruments and bring out their natural response. Depending on the model and configuration, SAITO guitars may feature single coils, humbuckers, or versatile SSH / HH layouts with coil-tap options.

The result is a wide tonal range: clear cleans, articulate overdrive, strong dynamics, and a sound that works across many styles — from blues, fusion, pop, funk, rock, modern session work, and heavier music.
